Making a decision

gaining clearity

You will have found a lot of information about the Jesuit vocation on our website, and information events are also some help to clarify your questions. But many questions are raised when it comes to a life choice. No information weekend or outsider can answer these questions – only God and you can do so.

We strongly recommend that you invest some time and seek support. In Ignatian spirituality there are two well-proven instruments that can be helpful in the decision-making process: retreats and spiritual direction. Retreats offer you the opportunity to withdraw with your questions in silence and prayer for some time.

Spiritual direction is an offer in which you meet the spiritual director of your choice at regular intervals (usually every four to six weeks) for looking together at your life and your questions. Your contact person will be glad to help you find such a director.

We Jesuits have various offers for young adults, such as the Zukunftswerkstatt/Frankfurt, the Zukunftswerkstatt/Innsbruck or the offers for Ignatian Spirituality of the Catholic University Community in Basel. Of course, you will also find helpful offers to clarify your vocation at other religious communities, such as the interactive website himmels-stuermer.org and in various retreat houses.
